The Background of Louhajong Upazila

Louhajong is the smallest upazila in the district of Munshigonj. The Upazila was formed with 12 unions from Sreenagar in 1915. But there is hearing that a great battle look place in the area at early British regime. Both the opponents that took part in the battle used iron (Bangla-Louha) made weapons. The word ‘Jong’ derived from means ‘Battle’ and Bengali word ‘Louha’ (Iron) equated the name of the was ‘Louhajong’. As such lates on the area got identity as Louhajong.The Thana was declared upazila in 12/12/1982.
